Thankful for . . .

A good Sunday

• an interesting exciting and thought provoking sunday school lesson where it was confirmed that the curriculum we are using is working :)
• A nice fish n chip picnic lunch at the sunday school lunch
• good company and neat co sunday school teachers as well as friends whom clapped when I scored a spare in 10 pin bowling
• warm beautiful day and shade as I watched them play paintball - I didnt want to play
• lastly going to the movies with one of the teachers, one of the girls from church and Billy :)

Home schooling field trip

there was a exhibition in town celebrating 100 years of New Zealand Surf Life Saving today so we went and had a look :)

we played with a machine and learnt more about rips

Billy had a go on the IRB (inflatable rescue boat) simulator

below swimming suits over the years wore by club members

1920s woolen// 1970s nylon// present day lycra

there was a statue and then then a photo of the way they use to do rescues. Attached to the reel and their life jacket was simply corks covered in cloth - arrrr!!

in the years of the war women took over from the men and were the main life guards

Last night I watched the news. I cried long and hard. The reporters said that when some of the families were told some got angry. This brought to mind when I found out my first best friend was murdered. I got angry at my father whom had some of the newspaper I read it in. I thought he should have known what was on the front page. Then I cried.

Since last night I have been thinking a lot about the mother of Joseph Dunbar. He was the youngest in the mine (only a year younger than my eldest daughter). He had been keen to start his job and it was his first day on the job. He was becoming ambitious. He was his mothers only child.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to all the children whom lost their daddies. One unborn child will never met his/her dad :( I feel for the wives, partners, siblings and parents of their lost one too. They are constantly in my thoughts at the moment - they were my first thought this morning and will be my last thought tonight before I go to sleep.

May the miners RIP

Day 29 - Something you hope to change about yourself. And why.

There are many things I would could write about here

I think I would like to set myself a gaol and review it in say a months time

While the pain in my hip, back and sciatic is better than it was

its not completely better

I went to the doctor who confirmed it was sciatica. She suggested I go to a physiotherapist however I cant afford to.

I however brought this heat/massage chair thing off Trademe cheaply its good though

and

I am going to do these exercises for at least 10 minutes a day

I brought this top at Daniels school fair on the weekend for next to nothing :)

Playing catchup for the last 3 days

I use to watch my boy cousins when I was a girl. They would go up to their mum and give her a hug just because they felt like it, they did this even when they were in their teen years. Even when I was a girl I knew I wanted a son like that one day. I have thankfully have a son like that - Daniel is a loving, caring, affectionate son who loves to get cuddles as much as giving them :)

While Billy thinks I am being lazy today. I have had a very restful day. I slept in, had a self made breakfast in bed, read, slept some more. Surfed the web for a while. Read in bed some more and continued the day in much the same fashion. I dont think I am being lazy I think I am having a restful day and I am thankful for it - I usually am so busy :)

Yesterday morning Billy and I spent the morning at the school annual fair. We had a good time and it felt good to support the school. I was thankful that not much money I was able to buy some books, some clothes and a few Christmas presents :) :)

Day 24 - Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all the songs. I feel like changing this slightly

Been busy and got behind

I like the fact that there are songs out there that have the names of my children in them

My Sarah is actually spelt with a h but never the mind

We actually call our Danny Daniel

Day 25 → The reason you believe you’re still alive today

I stupidly got into a car with a drunk boyfriend when I was 17. A friend later told me I was lucky I wasnt hurt or worse. I dont think it was luck I think it was God protecting me :) Needless to say I soon got rid of that boyfriend

Thankful for . . .

The fact that our dear friends came over this afternoon

it was a nice surprise

These friends are a family of 4 - the mum works as a nurse

the father is a special platonic friend of mine and a house dad

their son went through play group and then kindy with Daniel

and they have a slightly younger daughter who still goes to kindy

when the boys went to school (different ones) we agreed they should still see each other from time to time - they were best friends

so on the way home this afternoon Daniel decided he wanted to go to the park half way between home and school. Just as we were approaching the park we saw our friends coming to meet us. The kids played on the playground and up the hill (within sight) for a while

then we came home and fueled up (cold drinks and yoghurts) and played some more

it was nice seeing them again :) :) :)

Day 23 - Something you wish you had done in your life.

I was thinking about this a while ago. I day dreamed for a while then I came to the realization that it would change my life now. Im very content with my life at the moment. So I dont think there is anything I wish Id done in my past that I havent.

I dont think this is a cope out

I have 3 wonderful children

I still enjoy home schooling my older son

I like the school my youngest is going to

I enjoy my part time job

I like walking

I like where I live in fact I LOVE the Bay

I dont mind being a solo mum

I am content

Thankful for . . .

a day to keep an eye on my boy

Daniel could have gone back to school today

he was ok

I kept him home though and Im pleased I did

I would have worried about him otherwise

Day 22 - Something you wish you hadn’t done in your life.

Where do I start???

I admit I have many mistakes in my life

However they make me the person I am today

and they have given me my 3 beautiful wonderful loving children

I won :)

This morning I received a bracelet I won over at The Things I Love

North Island's Napier first to hit 30 degrees

Napier has become the first North Island centre to hit 30 degrees this Spring.

dont get me wrong I LOVE the warmer weather

however I was delivering catalogues in this heat!!!

til I got the call about Daniel

Thankful for . . .

a caring school

and my ex for being good today and being a good daddy and getting hold of me and letting me what was going on with Daniel

and also for jump starting my car too

I was rushing so much that I accidently flicked the lights on

Day 21 - (scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?

I do pretty much what I did today and rush to get to her bed side

My Wounded Soldier

This afternoon Daniel had an accident at school

He fell down some stairs. He re-grazed his knees - he hurt them in the weekend. He got concussion and need some glue to stick a little hole in his forehead back together.

The school rang only I was out working. Then they rang my cellphone only it was in the car. So then they rang his dad. Whom went, got him and took him to the doctors. Then tried ringing me on my cellphone again. This time getting me. I rushed to the doctors. We spent most of the afternoon in the doctors. So Daniel is having another day off school tomorrow. The doctors want to see him in the morning.
